Santander - 15 April 2010
I arrived in Santander on time and in good shape,
though tired. I wish I could say the same for my luggage.
One bag was not transferred in Miami, but should arrive tomorrow.
Could be worse.
Jose Manuel and Dori met me at the airport, and help transact the
luggage search. My Spanish is getting me by, but I'm real tired
and my brain shuts down from overload.
From the airport to Alejandro's house to await Alex and meet his son
Marcos. Marcos will be 2 years old later this month and seemingly
has the energy of several toddlers.
When we got to Alex's house there was a fresh, warm loaf of crusty bread
in a bag hanging from the door knob. Alex told me the village
baker delivers every afternoon.
I'm going to need bigger slacks.
3:00 PM - Lorena arrives home and we have a small lunch. Fresh
bread, pimentos with anchovies, pasta with pesto, and fruit.
I'm going to need bigger slacks.
A tour of the house, a much welcomed shower, some small talk, a walk
around the village, then dinner at 8:30 PM.
I'm going to need bigger slacks.
Beth called from Tampa about 8:00. So we know the calling card
works and my cell phone works. I hadn't thought about it, but
inserting the Spanish SIM card in my phone has made the entire phone
Spanish. All the menus and verbiage is in Spanish.
April 16 AM - After a good night's sleep I think I've kicked the
jet-lag. I had a good breakfast and coffee. Now to get
organized and get out to explore and take photos.Signing off now. More later.
¡SALUD!
