My last entry from Spain. I'm returning earlier than scheduled so I can get some work and pay for this trip.
My return from the weekend's trip to Galicia and Leon was very exciting. The weather was very nice in Leon on Monday morning, though cool and windy, and I paid no attention to the TV weather program. If I had I would have known that a huge blast of cold, stormy weather was heading from the north.
Instead, I chose a nice scenic route back, one that took me though rural areas and mountain passes. Well, long story short, I was greeted at one of those passes by high winds, rain, and light snow. In all I was lucky, as there were snow closures in other areas of Cantabria. There is snow on a high peak seen from Lorena's house, where there was none last week.
The past couple of days were cold and windy. Alex said yesterday was as bad as any during the winter.
Yesterday was a good-bye lunch at Jandro and Isabel's, and this morning was a quick round of visits to say farewell.
Alex's new car, a red Mini-Cooper, has arrived at the dealership and we went yesterday to see it. There are no temporary tags here, so he paid cash for the car but now must wait for the registration process before they will even let him drive the car. I explained to him the American concept of "instant gratification", and was amazed that we drive off the lot in new cars with such ease.
Anyhow, I leave Santander airport tomorrow morning at 8:25 AM local time, and arrive (scheduled) in Tampa at 6:30 PM Tampa time. With stops in Madrid and Miami, it is a little over 16 hours. I'll be tired and glad to be home. I have more photos and some video to post in the next week, so be sure to check back.
This has been a wonderful trip for me. A great experience that I'll never forget. Thanks for sharing it with me.
Signing off now. More later.
